This fact sheet for parents and community members provides information regarding the vulnerability of children in the aftermath of wildfires. The fact sheet lists recommendations before returning to the affected location and describes the potential hazards from fire damage including ash, debris, ash pits, damaged structures, and storage areas. The fact sheet also describes hazards from water damages, utilities, and psychological hazards. Preventative measures addressing the topics of protective masks and food are also included.
