This course is part of a series of short courses offered by the American College of Medical Toxicology on contemporary issues in environmental toxicology and environmental health developed by leading authorities in medical toxicology, under the direction of Drs. Michael Kosnett, Charles McKay and Paul Wax.
- Recognize the diversity of the chemistry and toxicology of common pesticides with an emphasis on indoor exposures.
- Describe chemical properties of pesticides and their impact on human exposure pathways.
- Discuss specific examples of clinically important pesticides that may be encountered indoors including exposure pathways and scenarios, exposure assessment, and clinical toxicology.
- Recognize emerging areas of research in pesticide toxicology including the use of bio-monitoring and the health implications of chronic, low-level exposures
